Canada District in Action! 

 

The United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) takes immense pride in its longstanding commitment to representing the rights and welfare of Canadian coal miners. For over a century, the UMWA has been a steadfast advocate for these hardworking men and women, tirelessly working to secure their livelihoods and protect their interests.

 

  • International Auditor/Teller Emeritus Bob Burchell placed a wreath at the grave site of William Davis on behalf of the International Union. “This is a very important day. This is our history. This is who we came from,” said Cape Breton’s Miners Museum Executive Director Mary Pat Mombourquette. “These are the people responsible for the lives we have today. We are so thrilled to be able to get together again for this very special day when our community comes together.”
