District 2 in Action!

District 2 proudly serves as the steadfast representative for UMWA members in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada. With a rich history deeply intertwined with the labor movement, our district encompasses local unions in key regions, including New York, Pennsylvania, and Nova Scotia. District 2 stands as one of the most diverse and dynamic districts within the UMWA, with a membership that spans a wide spectrum of professions, including not only miners but also correctional officers, county workers, and manufacturing workers.

On Saturday, December 6th at 11:00 a.m., the annual service at the Robena Monument on Route 21 in Carmichael's, Pennsylvania will take place to pay tribute to the men who perished 63 years ago in the explosion at the Robena
Mine on December 6, 1962. Everyone is welcome to attend the 63rd anniversary memorial event.
Annual Pensioner’s Picnic

District 2 held its annual Patsy Ricciuti Memorial Picnic on September 6, 2025, at Ten Mile Creek Park in Clarksville, Pennsylvania. The event has been held for nearly 20
years. President Roberts and Secretary-Treasurer Sanson both attended and spoke at this year’s gathering.
Honoring Officer Michael Lloyd

In a heartfelt Celebration of Life ceremony, friends, colleagues and community members gathered to honor Indiana County Jail Corrections Officer Michael Lloyd, who passed away Nov. 19, 2021. Brother Lloyd was a member of Local Union 4702. The memorial celebration at the jail included numerous speeches by Lloyd’s fellow corrections officers, who fondly remembered Lloyd’s impact on their lives, the jail and the community.

The UMWA District 2 Pensioner Leadership Committee will hold their annual Patsy Ricciuti Memorial Picnic on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ten Mile Creek County Park in Clarksville, Pennsylvania.

All dues-paying active, retired and Associate Members are invited to attend and bring their families. A picnic lunch will be served. As a reminder, please bring your own comfortable lawn chair or a blanket for seating. If you have any questions, please call the District 2 Office at (724) 550-4400. We hope to see you there!
