District 12 in Action!

District 12, with its deep roots in the United Mine Workers of America, holds a special place within the organization. This district serves as the dedicated representative of UMWA members in the Midwestern part of the United States. Its historical significance is evident, as many of the founding areas of the United Mine Workers of America can be found within District 12’s jurisdiction. Today, District 12 stands strong, bringing together UMWA members from the rich coalfields and diverse communities throughout western Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri.

Membership Pin Awards

Local Union 1410 Donations

Local Union 1410 made a donation to Linton Park in Linton, Indiana for allowing the UMWA to utilize their facilities for meetings throughout the year, and to the Coal Museum located in Dugger, Indiana.
Southern Illinois CLC Reorganization
On June 20, 2024, the Southern Illinois Central Labor Council (CLC) met with the UMWA, IBEW, AFSCME, UFCW, UA, IFT, USW and first responders to discuss modernizing the labor movement and taking the CLC to the next level.
On August 3, 2024, Local Unions 8941 and 9800 held a member picnic. Secretary-Treasurer Sanson was the guest speaker.
UMWA Supports Striking CWA Workers

On August 23, 2024, International District 12 Representative Tim Miller and Local Union 9653 member Richard Creager walked the picket line in Madisonville, Kentucky, in support of the Communication Workers of America (CWA).
Madisonville Police Department Donation

On August 20, 2024, International District 12 Vice President Steve Earle and International District 12 Representative Tim Miller presented a donation check to Officer Duncan of the Madisonville Police Department Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police.
