The unseen heroes of any city or county workforce is its 911 Emergency Dispatchers. Trained to handle crisis situations at all hours of the day, dispatchers must make lightening fast decisions that mean life and death to the members of their community. The United Mine Workers of America is proud to represent these workers.
Job security, adequate training, and reasonable scheduling are paramount concerns for these workers. Many work 12 hour shifts, during which they must be alert and ready at any time for when the emergency call comes in.
