UMWA Canada

The United Mine Workers of America takes great pride in its Canadian members and the long, storied history of representing workers across Canada. From the coal fields of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, to the mines of Alberta and beyond, Canadian miners have played an essential role in shaping the legacy and strength of the UMWA. These members have stood shoulder to shoulder with their union brothers and sisters, fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job. Their contributions have helped solidify the UMWA’s reputation as a powerful voice for working families across North America.

The UMWA’s presence in Canada dates back well over a century, with deep roots in the labor movements that built communities and drove industrial progress in the region. The union’s commitment to Canadian workers has never wavered, and we remain deeply connected to our members and their families from coast to coast. Today, the UMWA continues to represent and advocate for Canadian workers, always with a focus on solidarity, justice, and respect. That proud tradition lives on in every contract we negotiate and every job site we support.
