March 31, 2021 – Warrior Met Press Conference

The United Mine Workers of America held a press conference via a Zoom meeting Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. CST to discuss the one-year anniversary of the UMWA strike at Warrior Met Coal.

“The fact that we are still on strike after a year speaks volumes about this company and what they think about their workers,” UMWA International President Cecil E. Roberts said.

“The company has likely missed out on close to a billion dollars in lost coal sales this past year and it continues to bleed money paying high-priced lawyers instead of paying the employees who gave them over $1.1 billion to come out of bankruptcy. Instead of offering a fair and decent contract for this skilled, professional workforce, Warrior Met is recruiting strikebreakers from across the country to come take Alabama workers’ jobs. It’s time to stop holding these workers, their families, and their communities hostage. Let’s get a contract done here.”
