At the October 15, 2020, virtual meeting of the International Executive Board, President Roberts announced that Gary Trout will retire as Region 2 Director and International District 17 Vice President, effective November 1st.
President Roberts has appointed Brother Brian Lacy, UMWA District 17 Representative, to replace Gary Trout as the new International District 17 Vice President and will hold that position for the remaining term of Brother Trout.
Brother Jerry Kerns, Jr., UMWA District 17 Representative, has been appointed as the new Region 2 Director.
In addition, the Region 2 office will be relocated to Charleston, West Virginia, effective November 1, 2020.
“Gary has been a very close friend of mine for many years and has served every member of this Union throughout his career,” said President Roberts.
“I thank him for his years of outstanding and dedicated service. Secretary Treasurer Allen and I are extremely confident that both Brian Lacy and Jerry Kerns, Jr. will do an excellent job as District 17 Vice President and Region 2 Director.
“They have both been involved in this Union during some of the most pivotal battles and turning points we have faced, and I know they will continue to support the UMWA’s goals for the future. I look forward to great things from both of them.”
